Visiting

Wishkah St. and Heron St. serve as the Eastbound and Westbound halves of U.S. Route 12 through our downtown area. Each of these streets are two-lane, one-way roads with brisk-moving traffic averaging 548 cars an hour (9.6 million vehicles annually in each direction, 2017 figures).

Some of this is local traffic and some is commercial or industrial traffic, such as logging trucks, but a fair amount of it is tourist traffic on the way to or from the Pacific Coast. If you are returning from the coast on a Sunday, you may want to check out our Sunday Market on the South Side of Heron Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from late Spring to early Fall.

There is also a variety of local Shopping and Restaurant options in the downtown area or across the river in nearby East Aberdeen which may interest you. If you expect to be staying in the area overnight or longer, you may find our Hotels and Accommodations page helpful.

Even if you aren't staying in Aberdeen, you may wish to grab some groceries here on your way to elsewhere. Many of the smaller communities in the region lack full service grocery stores and rely on shopping in Aberdeen to meet some portion of their shopping needs.

It can be annoying to discover that after you arrive there and find yourself turning back around to shop when you were just here twenty minutes ago. Our Walmart Supercenter and Safeway are both directly on Highway 12, which is extremely convenient for people passing through on their way to the coast for the weekend.
